Stained glass

By far the most important stained glass in the church is found in the west window of the south aisle behind the kitchen. Known as the Camm window, after the family of glaziers, it shows a scene of the Adoration of the Magi. The window commemorates the generosity of George Digby Wingfield Digby of Sherborne Castle in financing the 1859-60 renovation of the church and was dedicated in 1894.

Thomas William Camm set up a renowned stained-glass business in Smethwick in 1865, and this was continued after Thomas’ death by his daughter Florence and her two brothers. The studio won many international awards and orders and by the 1890s its designs were strongly influenced by the contemporary Arts and Crafts artistic movement.
